jasmine's wreath (part 2)

After a few days, I decided I wanted a design which is a little more intricate and slightly larger. So, I added a little more motifs up north and down south to the original design 'jasmine's wreath' and retrace the initial design with henna.
The picture below shows the colour dye after about 1 day.

jasmine's wreath

After getting I-Fen's henna done, I decided to get one done on myself and I wanted some floral designs across the arm.
I started drawing from the middle of the lower arm, if you notice a full flower design, that's the starting point.

the skies are blue

Another floral henna design on I-Fen which was done yesterday morning. This time, it is on the back of the hand, adorned with blue and green glitter.
Glitters looks great when the henna is applied but it has a minimal temporary effect (i.e. it looks great for the first few hours before it drops off).

the first bloom

This is done on I-Fen's palm and arm. Bold and simple floral patterns.

Vines on the wall

Arabic henna incorporating vines directing the flow of the design.

a day of fun, dogs and henna

10.00am on a Sunday morning, stock check. henna, glitter, extra tissue rolls, water. check, check, check and check. set and ready to go.
The Mayhew Open Day started at 11.30am but by 11am, visitors are already strolling down the stalls while I am still waiting for my table to be set up. I was really lucky this time to get a spot in the shade, so no direct sunlight which makes me very very happy. There's lots of henna painting and glitters. Glitters are mostly for children though. I love the glittery henna. I'll definitely get one done myself for a special occasion. Not to forget there are many beautiful dogs strolling up and down the street. Everything I am passionate about; all can be found in the very same street.
The dogs at the Mayhew Animal Home were introduced to the visitors and are ready to be given up for adoption.
More photos have been uploaded in the photo gallery so feel free to go over and have a look at them.

spot the dandelions

Was surfing the net after long hours of researching (for my assignment) and I came across an image of dandelions!
I did little dandelions seeds all over the palm with the triangular strip and flower as the design complement.

a fair day for a summer fair

The weather was compromising for a summer fair, just as the name suggests. The sun was bright and scorching hot. This is my first summer fair and I've gotten both my hands beautifully tanned, without any artificial tanning assistance (forgot protections from the sun) and that's lesson number 1. Nevertheless, it was a fun and memorable event and I am glad everything turned out great. All the visitors were lovely and very compromising (to sit under the sun for their henna to be done).
My next task, I'll be setting up a henna stall
during the Mayhew Open Day this coming weekend.
Below are some of the photos from the St Marylebone CE Church's Summer Fair. For more photos, please visit our photo gallery.

dream of the jade princess

A design with an oriental touch.
A phoenix among blooming Chrysanthemums.
The phoenix, gorgeous, magnificent, legendary and mythical is usually associated with good fortune, opportunity, and luck for the Chinese. The
Chrysanthemums on the other hand, represents a powerful Yang energy, a strong life force is said to bring luck and prosperity to one.
All in one, the phoenix and the chrysanthemum blends in giving this design a subtle, gentle and soothing touch.
I think I just fell in love with the phoenix *grins*

lovely note

A simple contemporary design inspired by expressing your inner voice. Hearts, depicts an intensely amorous affair with oneself. A warm affection translated into a note to the special one, the core theme of this piece of work.
