Very simple designs

These are some of the simplest designs, well, I can't say pint point the originality of the design as I believe this is too simple and it may bear resemblence to designs everywhere. Nevertheless, I find it the easiest to do.
****
The first one is done with my left hand. Working on ambidexterity of both hands.
  1. Start with the main design - a flower maybe?
  2. Work up with some curves and then, moving downwards.
  3. Add more patterns around the main design and we're done. :)

Next design is extremely simple; the only drawback - use of a significant amount of henna paste. All you need to do is
  1. Define the boundary of the design
  2. Put in repetitive fillers (i.e. flowers/leaves etc) with a small gaps in between each fillers
  3. Fill up the gaps with henna paste.
  4. Add additional designs at the boundary - Yea! We're done in 5 mins (^.^)

Just make sure that you've filled up the gaps in between. If you miss any, it will definitely show up later. It wouldn't look defined and sharp then.

Croc's tongue? Lol.

Initially I wanted to draw a design with a winter theme for Henna Garden's henna competition while watching Emperor's New Groove but end up with this. Oh well, it doesn't exactly display a winter theme but it's still a good practise session. Leafy motif depicting aloe vera? Lol.

My rose

I know it's been 2 weeks since my last post, nope, I haven't lose my touch yet but just a little cooked up with my other activities.
I've been working on Ebay recently, finally I found out how to use it. So now, I get to clear up the air and space, result of years of shopping and not to mention impulse buying! A little late but oh well, better late than never. ;p
Oh, you can also visit my Ebay and see if any item for sale tinkle your interest. Let me know. I'll be delighted to assist!
***
My latest henna tattoo. My rose. Not the average henna design but this is more lifelike with shadings.

Oh this, I'm practising the speed to finnish a simple strip. I want to clock the time to finnish one design well below 4 mins. I'm working on it really hard.

Indian Bridal Mehndi

Henna is also known as mehndi in some Asian countries, especially India, Pakistan, Libya and neighbouring countries. I've always loved the indian bridal designs but well, practise makes perfect. Here's a sample design which I've worked on last week. One more to be added into this year's collection.

a simple replica

I've attend the recent World Travel Market in ExCel, London the last few weeks. Interesting as it is, loads of interesting events, celebrity visits, everyone is trying to sell their country - the amazing effort.
Little did I know, one of it includes henna! *sparkly eyes*
Tourism India was giving out free henna painting or you can say henna demonstration, so I've gotten one done. I love observing how the ladies draw, really fast and steady.

I decided to give a try to 'so call' replicate the design. It's a little different but the general idea is clear. I still need to work on the timing and I wish I can produce the effect like hers
*sigh*

a conventional touch

A simple string design and a dab of conventional flavour.
Been working hard to master the traditional motifs in pattern designing. :)

Simple feet design (Part 2)

Here are the photos taken the following day. I tried my very best not to expose my feet to any form of water/liquid the whole day.

Simple feet design

I'm all in with checkered boxes these days. I try to incorportate it in everytime I come up with something new. I love the drawing experience; this time I am using some henna powder imported from India which I got from a friend of mine.
It's smooth and flows easily. It stains quite nicely too. I'll upload the photos of the stains later.

Side view, there's a strand running by the side of the foot.

flower garlands

Here's a simple garland strand.

Tis' a more less conventional flower design.

Trying to work out with checkered boxes.

More floral henna designs

I've been quite busy for the past few weeks but nevertheless, managed to squeeze some time off for a relaxing therapy.

Here are some of the henna done. I have this new affinity for checkered boxes.

Lotus bloom

A design I got off from the book with a little detail additions. This is one of the tradtional henna designs commonly associated with the asian culture.
This is also drawn with home made henna paste and was left overnight on the skin.

The colour of the henna the following afternoon.

101010

A little something in conjunction with the auspicious 101010 binary code.
This is painted using self made henna paste. It's a little tedious making the paste but it results a wonderful painting experience. The henna paste is left on for 2 hours.

Colour of the henna the next day.

Merdeka Carnival 2010

Finally, sorted out the photos from the past Merdeka Carnival 2010 held on 25 September 2010 at the Tun Abdul Razak Research Center, Brickendonbury, Hartford.

The photos of the VIPs attending the event. This year, the Agong and Permaisuri Agong of Malaysia dropped by to visit. I manage to get a short glimpse of the royal couple when they went for a short stroll to visit all the exhibitors.

Most of my customers of the day were children and teenagers who loves glittery designs to be added to the basic henna designs.

Lovely little girls, although one tried really hard keeping her henna on.

Glitters and henna. *hearts*

I really enjoyed henna painting for this lady. She's full of energy, bubbly and a quirky sense of humour. She even apologized for her wrinkled skin. I was like *sweat*

It was a little quiet in the morning when it was cold and windy. I had to keep my trenchcoat on the whole morning!

Nevertheless more people started showing up in the afternoon, showing more interest in henna painting.

More photos from the event can be viewed in my photo album, Merdeka Carnival 2010.

Mayhew International Day 2010

Another henna day. *hearts*

Mayhew International Day aims to promote the work of Mayhew International in countries such as Russia, India, Afghanistan and Peru and help fund raise for their cause. They have lovely and dedicated staff working across the globe fighting for the rights and welfare of man's best friends'. Keep up the good work, you did an amazing job!

Amazing origami by Nuriko. She says making them helps her relax. I think making them makes me more tense then ever, trying to figure out the steps and folds *glups* She's an amazing life portrait artist too. Love your handicraft and artwork Nuriko!

We also have Debbie doing Indian Head Massage, really sweet lady with skillfull yet delicate hands. :)

Here are some of the henna done on the day.

A simple floral design from my party template, slightly modified.

This lovely lady wants cat paws print on her henna so we've changed the designs to accomodate little paw prints in the heart shape. She also wants her beloved cats' names to be in the design so we've included Claude and Hari's name by the heart, where they remain, always close to her heart.

This on the other hand is to accomodate a request to put an animal in the design so I've chosen a peacock which is a graceful and magnificent bird surrounded by flowers sealing it's eternal grace.

More henna photos were uploaded in the photo album, Mayhew International Day 2010.

Half of the profit from henna painting on the day was donated to Mayhew to help fund their work globally.

Simple bracelet

A simple bracelet design on the wrist replacing the need to hunt for matching bracelet designs for a week. :)

Just for fun

More simple henna designs to spice up a boring afternoon. Picking up a henna cone and drawing a new design every time is always a new and exciting experience for me.

At the side of the knee.

Beneath the collar bone.

On the arm, I love the unique feature of the flower (which was embossed on the dining clock in the dining room; so I've modified the design to 3 stalk of flowers bound together with a bow)

Simple designs

Having to juggle a few commitments at the same time ain't easy. Between finding time to post up recent photos and getting new designs done; requires lots of time and effort. Here's one done before the Merdeka Karnival, i.e. Independence Carnival in conjunction with Malaysia's independence.
Photos of the event will be uploaded soon; hopefully by the end of the week.

Brentford Festival 2010

Last 2 weeks, on the 5th of September 2010, we did henna painting at the Brentford Festival 2010. Thanks Sukhi for the lovely banner and also putting a tent over our heads. The day started out a little slow due to the rain but the weather became really friendly towards the evening. Photos have been uploaded in the photo album, Brentford Festival 2010.

A combination of several designs I've caught off the book.

blossom string

Alternating between a blossoming flower and leaves, this design is great for those wanting simple and less complicated (crowded) designs. This design can be enhanced by adding little bits to the fingers.

little memories

Sometimes, simplicity is more.

wild beauty

Inspired by a design from another henna artist on Facebook, she copied the design off a book but the design was drawn on the hand. I loved the design at first sight but I prefer something more elaborated so I've modified it to fit the leg.
