light in dusk

Inspired by the rock garden architecture landscaping. When daylight slowly creeps away, giving way to darkness, the light from the lamp will then take over, giving a whole new perspective to the world. Bloomed flowers and flower buds shows the transition of present to the future.

Review: Zubeda henna stains

This self made henna paste was made using Zubeda henna powder. It was recommended to me by my tutor for the consistency of its staining performance; i.e. it usually stains well. Noticed that I've bold the word 'usually'? Well, sometimes it's hard to predict whether the new box/packet of henna powder you just bought gives you good results. It's more of a gamble when you are buying something new. You'll never know till you try. Nevertheless, I've used 3 boxes of Zubeda henna powder and the stains seems to be quite consistent. It yields a more obvious brownish colour.

I'll get a review done on the henna powder I've used when I've got more time to spare. All these reviews were based solely on my own personal experience and my own point of view.
I had this henna done last night at about 10 - 11pm and removed the remaining paste by 2am (I am not keen to leave it on overnight as I wanted a good night sleep). This is the colour of the henna stains at about 10.30am in the morning, about 12 hours after the initial application.

The henna is able to stain in quite a short period of time. Leaving it on for about 2-3 hours can yield such the colour above. However, it gives a brownish stain, yet I believe it could be darker if lemon sugar syrup was applied.
I was looking forward to a slightly reddish edge in the stain though.

The colour is always darkest where the skin is thickest but I hoped for better and darker colour.

Morning tunes

A fusion of contemporary and Arabic design. Focusing on bold flowers, complemented with leaves (with patterned fillers) running from the wrist across the palm to the tip of the index finger.

Hmmm. I always love the smell of henna and spices on the skin. Especially when it dries. It induces a lovely relaxing and calming effect on me.

glory delight

Simple designs with bold flowery patterns (depicting morning glories, I just have this thing for purple and pink morning glories) with complementing leaves and little ferns giving a finnishing touch to the designs.

Ribbon garters

I love dressing up and accessories. So I decided to get a pair of garters henna-ed on my legs. Ribbons and bows. At least it will last for about a week or so without the hassle of getting it on and off. *winks* I'll try to come up with more garter designs in the future.

the royal garden

A little treat for myself. Having quite a lot of leftover home made paste. I am now trying to use up some of it. Anyway, after knowing that I did fine in my first half of my postgraduate course today, I am in a very pleasant mood so I decided to reward myself by doing something that I like. Hennaing. Here's the end result. A combination of floral patterns running from the shoulder to the arm with a peacock in the middle of the pattern. In the royal palace, the peacock, the royal family's pet is basking under the sun surrounded by exotic plants and flowers. I hope you like it.
Hmmm, now all I need to do is wait for a few more hours for the paste to really dry up and I'll be off to my lovely dream land.

twin strands

I always wanted henna designs on my legs. The bending posture is a little torturing but it all turns out well. Well, I am not as flexible as used to be. This is henna is done using home made henna paste. Flowery designs on both legs complementing each other.
Here
it goes.

The Rose Tattoo No. 3

A random little rose tattoo I've done while watching a movie earlier on the thigh.

The Spring/Summer 2010 Collections - Paperwork (Part 6)

Initially I started with the two bold flowers in the designs and experience what writers call mental block. I was stuck, staring at the empty sheet and I suddenly recall, ferns. With a straight back and curly top. That's the main fillers of this design.
